“All of a Sudden”. Petersburg premiere

On 11 and 12 December, the Mikhailovsky Theatre presents the Petersburg premiere of the play “All of a Sudden” in the production by Galina Polishchuk, based on the work of the same name by Valentin Rasputin. This production, like the audience’s favourite “Yesenin’s Women”, continues the tradition of touring productions by the Moscow Art Theatre on our stage.

“All of a Sudden” is a story that can be called a true study of the human soul. It tells of the “wild 90s”, about how difficult times change lives and bring our essential qualities to the surface. The dazzling scenography — laconic, considered, stylish — intensifies the impression of Valentin Rasputin’s prophetic tale. The action unfolds to atmospheric songs by Russian rock groups. The premiere of the production in Moscow was one of the most striking events of the previous theatre season.
