A Chance to Meet Leonid Sarafanov

Leonid Sarafanov, the Mikhailovsky Theatre ballet’s Principal Dancer, will meet members of the Friends Club at the Grand Hotel Europe on 31 May. The dancer will talk about his profession, reveal a few secrets, and answer questions from the theatre’s Friends.

“I really like this type of meeting with theatregoers. There is always a certain barrier between the artists on the stage and their admirers in the auditorium, however warmly the performers may be received by the audience. There are things that only can be conveyed in a face-to-face conversation. At this event I will be glad to talk not only about my work – I think if the theatregoers see me as an ordinary person they will be able to understand me better as an artist”.

Leonid Sarafanov has won prizes in all-Russian and international competitions alike, and has the Benois de la Danse prize (2006) and a Golden Mask (2010) to his name. He has been a member of the Mikhailovsky Theatre ballet company since January 2011. His repertoire includes all the principal classical ballet roles, but he is particularly inspired by roles in the productions of Nacho Duato, the ballet company’s Artistic Director.

This summer Leonid Sarafanov can be seen in The Sleeping Beauty (23, 25, 26 June; 19 and 21 July), Giselle, ou Les Wilis (28 June), Le Corsaire (3 July), Multiplicity Forms of Silence and Emptiness (12 and 13 July), and Don Quixote (26 July).

The meeting will take place in the Grand Hotel Europe’s Pushkin Room at 19:30 on 31 May.
