In autumn 2016, the Mikhailovsky Theatre ballet company will set off on a tour of the United States of America. The company will perform from 18–20 November at the Segerstrom Center for the Arts in California. The tour programme will feature the ballet Le Corsaire.

The Mikhailovsky Theatre première took place on 8 September 2015, in a staging by the theatre’s Ballet Master in Chief, Mikhail Messerer, and immediately sparked interest in the production in the West. The ballet correspondent at British newspaper The Guardian wrote in his review that the subject matter of Le Corsaire “is the setting for some of the most sophisticated choreography... and the Mikhailovsky dancers address it with joyous precision.” Russian critics noted that the production, like all of Messerer’s works, “is marked out by its high culture and its careful treatment of the classical heritage.”

This autumn, American audience will have an opportunity to give their verdict. The Mikhailovsky Theatre’s US tour will feature leading soloists of the ballet company.
