Theatre regulations
Dear guests,Please familiarize yourselves with the rules for visiting our theatre. These have been written to comply with the Standards for Safe Activities, Including Sanitary and Hygienic Safety to Counter the Spread of the New Coronavirus Infection (COVID-19) in St. Petersburg.
- Entry to the Mikhailovsky Theatre will only be granted after a temperature check using thermal imagery or a contactless thermometer and visual examination. When waiting to enter the theatre, please maintain the minimum social distancing of 1.5 metres as indicated by the markings.
- You will not be allowed to enter the Mikhailovsky Theatre if you have a temperature above 37° C and/or display visual symptoms of respiratory disease (cough, runny nose, fatigue). In this event, we recommend that you contact a medical facility for diagnosis and medical attention and observe safety measures.
- The following rules of personal and public hygiene must be observed for the duration of your visit to the Mikhailovsky Theatre: - you will not be allowed to enter the theatre with a temperature above 37° C and/or if you display visual symptoms of respiratory disease (cough, runny nose, fatigue) - you must wear a respirator or single-use mask at all times - you must observe social distancing of 1.5 metres between you and other theatregoers and our staff, except where there is a need for direct interaction related to their work.
- Visitors who do not adhere to these rules of personal and public hygiene will not be granted access to the Mikhailovsky Theatre and will not be served while they are on the premises. Mikhailovsky Theatre staff monitor visitors’ compliance with the rules of personal and public hygiene and social distancing.
- When purchasing tickets, we recommend that you avoid using cash and opt for contactless payment methods where possible.
- Admission to the theatre will only be permitted on presentation of a ticket, regardless of the patron’s age. Patrons who have lost or damaged their tickets will not be granted admission to the theatre.
- Children aged five or above may attend evening performances/concerts if accompanied by an adult.
- When buying tickets, patrons agree to abide by the age recommendations and indications on tickets and playbills. The theatre bears no liability for patrons’ failure to follow these recommendations.
- The following items may not be brought into the theatre: weapons; flammable, explosive, poisonous, strong-smelling, or radioactive substances; blades and sharp items; pyrotechnic devices; lasers; alcohol and narcotics; suitcases; large parcels and bags; knives; and items used for self-defence.
- On entering the theatre, patrons must pass through an inspection point equipped with stationary metal detectors for identifying banned items.
- To improve quality of service, audio and video recordings are made on theatre premises.
- Coats, hats, packages, rucksacks, umbrellas, flowers, and balloons must be checked into the cloakroom.
- Visitors to the Tsar’s Box must observe the theatre’s dress code: evening or cocktail dresses for women and black tie or business suits for men. The theatre reserves the right to refuse admission to anyone not complying with the dress code.
- Event start times are shown on tickets. Patrons will be admitted to the auditorium from 30 minutes before the start of an event. Entry will not be granted to the stalls or stalls circle after the third warning bell.
- Latecomers should take the seat offered by the steward, or watch the live broadcast of the event in the theatre’s refreshment area until the interval, during which they will be able to access the seats indicated on their tickets.
- The following is strictly prohibited at the Mikhailovsky Theatre:
- wearing coats or bringing food and drink into the auditorium
- using photo, video, and audio recording equipment
- bringing animals into the theatre
- Mobile phones must be switched off during events.
- Patrons must treat theatre property with respect, and abide by the fire safety instructions and regulations. In the event of an emergency and activation of the alarm, patrons should follow the instructions of theatre staff.
- Patrons must behave respectfully towards others at the theatre, and refrain from causing disturbances or annoying other guests.
- Patrons in a state of intoxication will not be admitted to events.
- From an hour before the start of an event, mostly tickets for the upcoming event will be available from the box office.
- Tickets for stalls circle and dress circle boxes are sold as follows: in the dress circle, all four box seats must be purchased together; in the stalls circle, tickets may be purchased in pairs (two seats, one behind the other). Tickets are also accepted for return in pairs.
- E-tickets may not be exchanged for printed tickets.
- On the day of an event, if the box office has not yet sold out of tickets, a 50% reduction is available to students and pensioners upon presentation of an ISIC card, student card, or proof of pensioner status.
- After performances of productions in the theatre’s current repertoire, flowers are not brought on stage but are given to performers in their dressing rooms. Flowers may be brought on stage in exceptional circumstances subject to prior agreement with the management. If you wish to give a performer flowers, let a steward know before the performance begins and leave the bouquet with them. The steward will ask you to fill out a card indicating who the bouquet is for. You may also give performers flowers in person after the performance at the stage door.
